About Me
- Nancy Leshinsky
- I am an emerging artist currently living in Bellingham, Washington in a 105 year old Victorian home that is also my studio. I have exhibited in national as well as international juried exhibitions. My work is in the Northwest School tradition with an emphasis on representational abstraction and Asian art. Early in my career, I did studies at the home owned by celebrated northwest mystic painter Morris Graves. In 2006 I won the Bellingham Arts Commission city wide competition for a weathervane design titled "Beet Spirit". It’s a 9'x4' beet that sits atop Bellingham's Depot Market Square clock tower. In 2009 I was accepted to a National Juried Exhibition at Axis Gallery juried by Janet Bishop the curator for SFMOMA. I love to create, be it a garden, a painting, a piece of kitting or my miniature hand painted jewelry “watches” that I call “lose all track of time”. I use a limited palette and scumble as well as glazing techniques for my “watches just as I would for a larger painting. I also add found objects and upcycled beads and glass. I have a wonderful view of an established garden and Bellingham Bay where the flora and fauna never cease to amaze and inspire me.
